Cynthia Emery Chilen is a multifaceted artist whose joyous works delight across media. Over the course of her career she has delved into oil painting, pastels, acrylic, mixed media, woodblock prints, and ink drawings. Cynthia's mother instilled in her a love of nature, and she is drawn to highlighting the intricate details and patterns that occur in the natural world.
A native of Concord, Massachusetts, Cynthia lived in Kansas City for over 40 years, leaving the East coast originally to work for Hallmark Cards. Currently she resides in San Francisco, CA. She holds a BFA in textile design from University of Massachusetts Dartmouth and is also a master gardener. Gardening is her second love. She won an Honorable Mention at the 1995 International Pastel Society Show and has exhibited work at the Westport Art Fair in recent years.
